Fire resistant battery cabinet for safe storage and charging of batteries

Battery storage is becoming increasingly important. Not only for the prevention of fires caused by defective batteries but also because regulation is becoming more significant. The use of these lithium-ion batteries is not without risk. More and more often, reports are appearing in the media that fire and damage have occurred when charging these risky (bicycle) batteries.

The problem is that you cannot tell from the outside whether a battery is broken - and therefore a fire hazard. Therefore, store these batteries safely in a fire resistant battery cabinet and prevent damage to your shop or business premises.

The Batteryguard lithium-ion fire resistant battery cabinet offers the solution against battery fires thanks to a solid fire-resistant construction. An EN 15659 LFS60P-certified cabinet with fire-resistant properties is used as the basis. In these cabinets you can safely store and simultaneously charge (bicycle) batteries.

If one of the batteries unexpectedly starts to catch fire, the Batteryguard battery cabinet will contain the fire within the safe, preventing it from spreading to your premises!

Electric bikes, smart phones, laptops, garden tools, all these devices are equipped with lithium ion batteries. These batteries have an extremely high energy density, so they can carry a lot of energy and power equipment for a long time.

However, damage or a manufacturing defect can cause a chain reaction, also known as 'thermal runaway', in which the battery catches fire and, in the worst case, can even explode. Damage inside the battery can be caused by dropping the battery or bumping it against something. This damage will not be visible on the outside.

For additional safety, you can equip your Batteryguard battery cabinet with an automatic fire suppression system. If one of the batteries overheats, the fire extinguisher system will activate automatically. Under each shelf, the sensor extinguisher hose is incorporated in a zigzag shape. As soon as a battery becomes overheated, it will be cooled with Berki-cold foam. (Extinguishing foam certified to EN 1568, extinguisher certified to EN 3-7). The foam provides long-term cooling, after which the battery will not continue to ignite. If the extinguishing system has been activated, it can be easily and quickly repaired by our technical staff.

Together with Domino's Pizza, we worked on a solution for the safe storage and charging of lithium-ion batteries. After one of the Domino's branches burned down due to a battery igniting, the need for a fireproof battery cabinet became quickly apparent.
