Unfortunately, there are still many safes on the market that are not certified and which in practice do not appear to offer sufficient protection against burglary and aggressive intruders. In view of the high quality requirements we impose on our products, we opt to have a significant number of models in our range of Sistec and Salvus products certified by the ECB-S (European Certification Boards-Security), the leading certification authority for fire and burglary resistant safes and cabinets. The ECB-S label stands for quality assurance with regard to security products such as regular safes, fire safes, safe rooms, data safes and safe locks. These safes stand out greatly from non-certified safes or those with unknown certificates.
If a safe or fire safe carries ECB-S certification, you can rely on it having the following qualities:
• an independently tested and certified safe
• consistent and controlled quality
• optimal price/ quality ratio
• guaranteed acceptance by insurers
ECB-S and insurers
The ECB-S quality mark give you assurance that you will not have any extra unpleasant surprises if you have to make a claim. Insurers have faith in the high quality guarantee inherent to such certified products. In fact, insurers are increasingly demanding ECB-S certified safes.
Test institutes
There are several strictly selected European test institutes that check the construction method of our safes and where specialists attack them to see their limits. These experts have the relevant knowledge, skills and burglary tools to test the safes under worst case scenarios. You can see an overview of these testing laboratories below. These test institutes are approved and accredited to issue ECB-S certificates by the certification organization ESSA (European Security Systems Association).
• VdS, Germany
• CNPP, France
• Istituto Giordano, Italy• SP, SBSC, SSF, Sweden
ECB-S label
When a safe is tested and certified, the manufacturer receives a certificate for that model. This entitles the manufacturer to mount a type plate on the inside of the safe. The ECB-S label gives you information about the year of construction, certificate number, weight, serial number, resistance class and the fire and burglary resistant standards that the safe has been tested under.
